Greetings from the Designer.

Writing this post and working on our new layout of our website makes me think of how this all started. Prior to this position at this company I was finishing up my Degree in Computer Science, leaning towards the path of Web Development. I met with Jarrod (Our Lead Developer and Office Manager) one afternoon and he asked me if I wanted to work for a new company in town. This was the start of my experience in SEO.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in a nutshell is techniques and actions to apply to websites, getting company website links higher up on search engine results, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. These actions to help websites get to the First Page of Google help consumer traffic for companies, which provide them with more business and popularity.

I didn’t know very much of SEO or any of Google’s analytical services until I met with Clayton (Our CEO) and Jarrod for coffee. Clayton told me of his experience, working with Google Ad words, Google Business etc to provide Search Engine Optimization for clients. Right there and then I was interested in learning about SEO.

I didn’t really think much of how Google works (especially with photos of their servers. A lot to take in) but once I started learning about SEO tools and techniques I was very interested. I did not think that even the smallest actions on a website could affect Search Engine Results, but they can significantly.

Knowing now that SEO can affect a website, it is highly recommended that every website has SEO implemented. I used to think that just developing a website and then hosting it would be enough (with some links on LinkedIn. Google+ etc) but I was wrong. SEO is the final step in having an excellent website.

I have learned so much from this company in such a short time. I am looking forward to learning more in the future.
